    • Web challenge recap! There were no less than 4 teams at the web challenge who built sites built on Ruby technology. We'll have representatives from two of the teams: the official Ruby.MN web challenge team, and the Department of Sleepless Creation, talk about their experience at the challenge and show off the before and after results from the challenge.

    • Derek Rockwell will be going over all the new stuff in Rails 4, and possibly touch on some Ruby 2.0 goodies.

    • Kevin Whinnery will present the Twilio cloud communications API and the official Twilio Ruby gem.

      The Twilio APIs make it really easy for developers to make and receive phone calls, send and receive text messages, and embed VoIP functionality into web and native mobile apps. We will explore how to use this functionality in a Ruby application, and how to test locally using the Twilio-sponsored localtunnel Ruby gem.

    • Cory Preus will present an iOS game he's been developing in his free time using RubyMotion and the Objective-C library to Firebase.

    • Dave Collins will be presenting "Arduino and Ruby - pros and cons"

    • Weston Platter will be presenting "Transforming Plugins into Engines."

    Rails 4 will deprecate Rails 2.3 style plugins. If you have plugins with extensive tie-ins to your Rails app, you may want to consider converting the plugin to a fulll-on Rails Engine. To help you kick-start the process, Weston will give a brief overview of Rails Engines, walk through how a production grade plugin was transformed into a Rails Engine, and highlight lessons learned.
